These cute Valentine’s Day Mailbox Ideas will give you lots of inspiration for collecting your Valentine’s Day cards!
Every year my most popular Valentine’s Day craft project is not even a Valentine’s Day project at all. It’s a very cute cardboard mailbox that I made when my oldest really wanted to have a Post Office themed birthday party (for real, that’s what he wanted). My kids actually still play with it. There’s something very fun about delivering pretend mail. I think it’s the tiny envelopes.
Anyway, that got me thinking that there are sooo many cute Valentine’s Day mailbox ideas out there and so today I wanted to share some of my favorite from around the web with you. People get so creative with their Valentine mailbox ideas!
I don’t really remember this being a thing when I was a kid. I think we decorated a shoe box, but you did that during school and it was never much fancier than construction paper and markers. Now I know some schools have you make them at home and they get REALLY fancy. That’s not something my kids’ school does but I think it sounds fun. But if that’s not your thing, really, don’t stress, you can either use one of these ideas or just let your kids go with the old fashioned shoe box route! A decorated brown paper lunch bag works just fine too!
I was also thinking that this year in particular, Valentine’s mailboxes would be a really great way to share Valentines with friends while still keeping some distance. Especially if your kids aren’t actually in school in person. You could put your cute mailbox by your front door or on your porch and deliver your cards any time! I’m sure my kids will be doing this with your neighbors this year.
If you’re looking for printable Valentines to go with your DIY mailbox, here are some really cute mailbox themed printable Valentine cards that I whipped up last year. They turned out so cute!

Cut a simple mailbox flag shape out of card stock or leftover shoe box and attach it with double-sided tape or glue. Have your child write their name on the box and decorate it as their heart desires. We added vintage stamps and heart stickers to ours.
Keep it small but meaningful. Boyfriends are sometimes difficult to buy worthwhile presents for, but offering a gift in a new love box will make it feel that much more special. For instance, if your boyfriend's really excited for a show, pick up a pair of concert tickets and hide them at the bottom of the box.
Your take on homemade Valentine's gifts might mean an easy craft (anything heart-shaped will do), a sweet treat (think chocolates, pink candies or homemade donuts) or a DIY Valentine's Day card. Whatever your style, this roundup proves it's easier than expected to make your own presents.
Spa basket: Fill a basket with relaxing bath items, like bath salts, bubble bath, and scented candles, along with a soft towel and robe. Food basket: Put together a basket of gourmet treats, like chocolates, wine, cheese, and crackers, for a romantic dinner at home.
If needed right way, you can use a 5-gallon bucket with concrete. Just place your post in the bucket, add a bag of concrete, and then mix in some water. You will need to allow the concrete to cure in your garage or somewhere warm.
You can decorate a metal mailbox with spray paint, vinyl number or monogram decals, or line the inside with contact paper liner in a fun color or pattern. To update the look of a plain metal mailbox, consider adding a new mailbox post or decorating around your mailbox area with potted or planted flowers.
