    Carmen Santiago started at BMCC 20 years ago, then restarted in 2021 to graduate in 2023.     Students from across various BMCC academic majors filled the main floor of the College gymnasium at 199 Chambers St. on May 4, for the first annual Artificial Intelligence (AI) Innovation Challenge for Social Good event. The event was organized and sponsored by the Tech Equity Project led by Computer Science professor Dr. Mohammad Azhar and part of the CUNY Tech Equity Initiative.     A team of BMCC Computer Information Systems (CIS) Professors—Ching Song (Don) Wei, Mohammad Azhar, Hao Tang and Yan Chen—have received a three-year, $645,000 Advanced Technological Education (ATE) grant from the NSF to develop CUNY's first Artificial Intelligence (AI) certificate program.
