Crochet Easy Alpine Stitch Baby Cardigan (6-12 months) - Sirin's Crochet (2024)

This cardigan haves 3d effects. You can adapt it every size easily. It’s very favorite stitch for both boys and girls. I must admit I thought I would do it for myself.

You can try many color combinations. You can add difference by making the whole body a color and making the last rows a different color.

Crochet Easy Alpine Stitch Baby Cardigan (6-12 months) - Sirin's Crochet (1)

Materials

Yarn:Size 4 (100 gr-160mt-174 yards)

Hook:5 mm

Stitches used

Chain: ch

Single crochet:sc

Double crochet:dc

Front post double crochet:fpdc (don’t make your fpdc’s so tight)

Slip stitch:Sl st

Space: sp

Notes

When you see *( )** it means you repeat the instructions in between *( )** Where you see the word ​turn​ it means to turn your work clockwise and work back down the row.

You should start your cardigan with an odd number.

Row1: Ch55 turn your chains and start to crochet with back loops. You can see in photo1. Skip 3st and insert your hook 4th st and make a dc+make 1dc of 7st+Ch2+make 1dc in the same st+make 1dc of 10st+ch2+make 1dc in the same st+1dc of 7st+ch2+1dc in the same st+1dc of 10st+ch2+1dc in the same st+1dc of 8st

If you want to make your cardigan bigger, you should add 10 more chains to your start chains.

Row2:Ch3(count as the first dc) and turn.1dc+1fpdc+1dc+1fpdc+1dc+1fpdc+1dc+1fpdc+(1dc+ch2+1dc) in ch2 sp+*(1fpdc+1dc)**until come to the ch2 sp+(1dc+ch2+1dc)in ch2 sp+*(1fpdc+1dc)**until come to the ch2 sp+(1dc+ch2+1dc)in ch2 sp+1fpdc+1dc+1fpdc+1dc+1fpdc+1dc+1fpdc+2dc

Row3:Ch1 and turn. Make a sc in every st. When you come to the ch2 sp; (1sc+ch2+1sc) in every ch2 sp.

Row4:Ch3 and turn.*(Make a fpdc in the dc of 2nd row+make a dc on next st.)** When you come to the ch2 sp make (1dc+ch2+1dc) in every ch2 sp. If you come to the ch2 sp with fpdc,you should start with a fpdc after the sp.

Row5:Ch1 and turn.Make a sc in every st.When you come to the ch2 sp; (1sc+ch2+1sc) in every ch2 sp.

Repeat row 2-3-4 and 5 until,size is 12cm.

Body of the Cardigan

Row1:Ch3 and *(1fpdc+1dc)** until come to the Ch2 sp. When you come to the Ch2 sp make 3 dc in it.+skip the stitches for the first sleeve+make 3dc in ch2 sp+*(1fpdc+1dc)** until come to the next ch2 sp+make 3dc in ch2 sp+skip the stitches for the second sleeve+make 3dc in ch2 sp+*(1fpdc+1dc)**

Row2:Ch1 and turn. Make a sc in every st.

Row3:Ch3 and turn.*(1dc+1fpdc)**until come to the first 3dc of the first row. When you come to the first 3dc of the first row, crochet 1fpdc in the first dc of first row+make a dc in the 2nd st+make a fpdc in the 3rd dc of first row+ make a dc in next st+come to the second 3dc part. Make a fpdc in the first dc of first row+make a dc in next st+make a fpdc in the 2nd dc of first row. You can see in photo2.+*(1dc+1fpdc)**until come to the 3rd 3dc part of the first row. When you come to the 3rd 3dc part of the first row, crochet 1fpdc in the first dc of first row+make a dc in the 2nd st+make a fpdc in the 3rd dc of first row+ make a dc in next st+come to the 4th 3dc part. make a fpdc in the first dc of first row+make a dc in next st+make a fpdc in the 2nd dc of first.+*(1dc+1fpdc)**

Row4:Ch1 and turn. Make a sc in every st.

Repeat row 1-2-3 and 4 until,size is 17cm.

Finishing the Body of Cardigan

Row1:Make a sc in every each st. On the corners,you should make 2sc.

Row2:Ch1 and turn. Make a sc in every st but only back loops. On the corners, you should make 2 sc.

Row3:Ch1 and turn. Start with a sc on the back loops and make 1. Then locate of your buttons at 10 st and skip 1st at the place you reserved fot the button. When you come to the corners, you should skip 1 st of the corner in this row. (you can see in video 36:40)

Row4:*(1dc+1sl st)** until come to the first corner. When you come to the corner make 2sc on the back loops. Make a sc in every each st(only back loops) , front part of cardigan. When you come to the corners make 2sc on the back loops. On the neck part *(1dc+1sl st)**When you come to the corners make 2sc on the back loops. Make a sc in every each st(only back loops) , front part of cardigan. When you come to the corners make 2sc on the back loops. Then make *(1dc+1sl st)** the bottom of the cardigan and finish the body part.

SLEEVES

Row1:Join with the last fpdc (you can see in photo3)*(1fpdc in the fpdc of previous row+1dc)**

Row2: Ch1 and turn. Make a sc in every st.

Row3:Ch2 and turn.*(1fpdc in the fpdc of Row1+1dc)**

Repeat Row2 and Row3 until you have nearly 18 rows. Armpit length is nearly 16cm-sleeve length is nearly 28cm. Finish with repeat of Row2.

Finishing Row1: Make a sc in every st only back loops.

Finishing Row2 :Make a sc in every st only back loops.

Finishing Row3 :Make *(1dc+1sl st)**
