Good evening and welcome fellow Children of Chaos.
So for my horror Calendars I have gotten Haute Tension which I've seen and then this one. Bringing me to 15 new watches and 6 previously logged.
Sadly this movie is hindered by the fact it is found footage. Sadly the sh*tty camera cripples my viewing experience. And I will rally against this gimmick until I see it no more.
I loved the mythology on display here. The Djinn and the codes. And I don't want to spoil too much but the movie really does do a good job setting up it's climax.
I also generally praise movies that involve monsters that are not Ghosts, Vampires, Therianthropes, Zombies, and Serial Killers. And…

Review by Ömer Korkmaz ★★★★

My brother was watching this and I tagged along, surprisingly it was a good found footage and folk horror. Also the fact that this film is based on true events scared the sh*t out me lol. There are several scenes that are so unsettling and disturbing to watch, I wish the narrative was little more engaging though. The Djinn lore was definitely interesting and I want to check out rest of the series.

The fact that three of my friends enthusiastically hyped this movie up is sending me😭 The effects (especially the camera shaking) had me cackling and sh*t. Believe me, low budget turkish horror movies are next level bad.
Dabbe 4 might be an interesting watch for non-muslims, but i can assure you that it’ll be a scary watch for muslims. For an atheist who grew up in this culture though… it’s just beyond hilarious. (Turkish people love watching this franchise with friends. Planning on doing a Dabbe marathon soon.)

Eastern mysticism, Djinns, Anatolian psychics, black magic spells, runes, Turkish voodoo, Islamic demonology — 'Cin Çarpması ("Curse of the Jinn") gives Found Footage an extreme makeover: Oriental edition!
Hasan Karacadağ’s third entry in the D@bbe series has gained quite some notoriety, with good reason: It has an eye for disturbing visuals and makes the most of its limited budget. Plus, the anarchic style has more steam than a whirling dervish and is given tons of love and attention. Something that Western Horrors have seemingly forgotten about!
Not everything is perfect in 'Cin Çarpması. At times it's an uneven film with as many virtues as it has flaws, comes across as all too cheesy, walks latently the line of "Turkish Bollywood"…
