There are a few foods that people are very passionate about. Two of those foods are dill pickles and ranch. While I do love pickles, I much prefer blue cheese over ranch- especially for salads and wings.

However, dry ranch seasoning is something I’ve come to adore. It works as a seasoning for so many other things besides just the classic salad dressing! And the seasoning itself is actually pretty easy to make at home.

Did you know: Dill seed is the fruit of the dill plant, while dill weed refers to the leaf and stem. You can totally substitute fresh dill instead of dry dill if you have it on hand. It will give a nice boost of flavor.

Variations

If you want to add a bit of spice to this, you could add some cayenne pepper or chili powder. For additional flavoring, try adding a teaspoon garlic powder or onion powder into the mix.

If you’d like to, you can add in some regular chex mix to mix it up a little. Just add the same amount of cereal as pretzels and then double the rest of the ingredients. And now you have a dill pickle chex mix recipe!

How to Make Dill Pickle Ranch Pretzels

You are going to love how easy it is to make a big batch of this easy snack.

  1. Prepare oven and pan. We don’t actually need to cook the pretzels, just bake in that pickle flavor, so we only need to preheat the oven to 275°F. Then line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine seasonings. Next in a large bowl combine the package of ranch dressing mix, pickle juice and oil.
  3. Coat pretzels. Pour your bag of pretzels into the bowl with the seasoning and immediately toss with a rubber spatula. Make sure that all of the pretzels are evenly coated. If it helps, you can pour the pretzels and seasoning into a gallon-size zip top bag and shake until coated.
  4. Add pretzels to pan. Pour the coated pretzels onto the prepared baking sheet. Try to make sure the pretzels are in a single layer, but it is okay if some of the pretzels are on top of each other.
  5. Bake. Bake the pretzels for 20 minutes tossing once halfway through. Be sure to mix the pretzels thoroughly to ensure an even bake.
