This is the easiest crochet heart pattern I have designed. This post includes 3 crochet heart patterns, each with it’s own video tutorial. Even a beginner crocheter can make these easy crochet hearts. The pattern is very simple. Crochet Heart Pattern 1, is one round of stitches. Crochet Heart Pattern 2, is two rounds of stitches and Crochet Heart Pattern 3 is three rounds of stitches. These simple, pretty crocheted hearts are perfect for so many occasions, for weddings and also for Valentine’s Day.

Each round takes less than 3 minutes to crochet. That means for crochet heart pattern 1 you need just 3 minutes of time.

These Crochet Hearts for Valentine’s Day can be used to embellish your favorite projects, to decorate cards and crafts, or if you switch to crochet thread and the hook recommended for the thread, you can make them into lovely crochet heart earrings.

Easiest Crochet Heart Pattern with Video

Supplies

  • Yarn: Furls Wander Acrylic Yarn. (affiliate link) 3.5 oz (100 g) and 120 yds (109 m) .100% Acrylic. Medium Weight Yarn [4]. Machine wash cold water, normal cycle. Do not tumble dry. Do not bleach. Low iron.
  • Yarn Colors: 1 skein each in Pomegranate and Snow.
  • Crochet Hook: 4 mm (G) Furls Streamline Alpha (affiliate link)
  • Finished Project: Heart 1: 0.04 oz (1g) and 1.2 yds (1.09 m), Heart 2: 0.11 oz (3 g) and 3.6 yds (3.27 m); Heart 3: 0.14 oz (4 g) and 4.8 yds (4.36 m)
  • Scissors, Tapestry Needle (Yarn Needle), Stitch Marker

Difficulty Level

  • Easy

Finished Sizes

  • Crochet Heart 1: height 1.75 inches X 2 inches width
  • Crochet Heart 2: height 2 inches X 2.25 inches width
  • Crochet Heart 3: height 2.5 inches X 2.75 inches width

Gauge

  • After Rnd 1 approximately height 1.75 inches X 2 inches wide

You can substitute any yarn and hook for this stitch pattern – just remember when you substitute if your gauge is different, the finished size, and amount of yarn used for your project will also be different.

  • ch2sp – chain 2 space
  • ch3sp – chain 3 space
  • dc – double crochet
  • DMR – double magic ring
  • g – grams

  • * to **– Repeat the instructions between the asterisks the number of times indicated. This repeat will contain multiple instructions.

Using your 4 mm (G) hook (or size required for gauge):

Rnd 1: With MC, work the following into DMR: Ch 3, 3 tr, 4 dc, 1 tr, 4 dc, 3 tr, ch 3, sl st. Finish off MC yarn and close the DMR. [8 dc, 7 tr, 1 sl st, 2 ch3sp]

Proceed to finishing instructions.

Using your 4 mm (G) hook (or size required for gauge):

Rnd 1: With MC, work the following into DMR: Ch 3, 3 tr, 4 dc, 1 tr, 4 dc, 3 tr, ch 3, sl st. Finish off MC yarn and close the DMR. [8 dc, 7 tr, 1 sl st, 2 ch3sp]

Rnd 2: Join in the final sl st of Rnd 1. Ch 2, sl st in the first ch3sp. *Ch 2, sl st in the next st**. Work from * to ** around to the final ch3sp. Ch 2, sl st in the ch3sp, ch 2, slip st in the sl st from Rnd 1 (the same stitch you joined in at the beginning of the round). Finish off. [19 sl st, 19 ch2sp]

Proceed to finishing instructions.

Using 4 mm (G) hook (or size required for gauge):

Rnd 1: With MC, work the following into DMR: Ch 3, 3 tr, 4 dc, 1 tr, 4 dc, 3 tr, ch 3, sl st. Finish off MC yarn and close the DMR. [8 dc, 7 tr, 1 sl st, 2 ch3sp]

Rnd 2: With CC, join in the final sl st of Rnd 1. Ch 2, sl st in the first ch3sp. *Ch 2, sl st in the next st**. Work from * to ** around to the final ch3sp. Ch 2, sl st in the ch3sp, ch 2, slip st in the sl st from Rnd 1 (the same stitch you joined in at the beginning of the round [18 sl st, 18 ch2sp]

Rnd 3: Ch 1, sl st in the first ch2sp. *Ch 2, sl st in the next ch2sp**. Work from * to ** around to the final ch2sp. Ch 1, sl st in the final sl st from Rnd 2. Finish off. [19 sl st, 17 ch2sp, 2 ch1sp]

Proceed to finishing instructions.
