Easy Crochet Bunny Blanket: Review & Giveaway! (3)

Insights, advice, suggestions, feedback and comments from experts

Introduction

As an expert in crochet, I can provide information about the concepts mentioned in the article about the Adorable Crochet Bunny Blanket. Crocheting is a popular craft that involves creating fabric using yarn and a crochet hook. The Bunny Blanket pattern mentioned in the article uses single crochet stitches and double crochet stitches to create a beautiful blanket with a soft fringe on both side edges. The pattern also introduces the mosaic dropped double crochet technique and the single crochet bobble stitch. I will provide more details about these techniques and stitches in the following sections.

Crochet Stitches Used

The Bunny Blanket pattern uses two basic crochet stitches: single crochet (sc) and double crochet (dc). These stitches are commonly used in crochet projects and are essential for creating various patterns and designs. Here's a brief explanation of each stitch:

  • Single crochet (sc): The single crochet stitch is a basic stitch that creates a tight and dense fabric. It involves inserting the crochet hook into a stitch, yarn over, and pulling a loop through the stitch. Then, yarn over again and pull through both loops on the hook.

  • Double crochet (dc): The double crochet stitch is taller than the single crochet stitch and creates a looser fabric. It involves yarn over, inserting the hook into a stitch, yarn over again, and pulling a loop through the stitch. Then, yarn over and pull through the first two loops on the hook, yarn over again, and pull through the remaining two loops.

These two stitches are the foundation for many crochet projects and can be combined in various ways to create different textures and patterns.

Mosaic Dropped Double Crochet Technique

The Bunny Blanket pattern introduces the mosaic dropped double crochet technique. This technique allows you to create an image or design by cleverly placing dropped double crochet stitches into the remaining front loops of stitches from two rounds below. It adds texture and visual interest to the blanket.

To use the mosaic dropped double crochet technique, you will need to follow the written instructions and charts provided in the pattern. The technique is suitable for crocheters of all skill levels, including beginners. If you need additional guidance, the pattern also includes a helpful video tutorial by Carol Hegar from Shady Lane Original Crochet Designs.

Single Crochet Bobble Stitch

The Bunny Blanket pattern also includes a special stitch called the single crochet bobble stitch (scb). This stitch is created by making four single crochet stitches in a single stitch and then closing them together with a bobble technique. The bobble technique is simple and outlined on page 3 of the pattern. The single crochet bobble stitch adds texture and dimension to the blanket.

Blanket Sizes and Materials

The Bunny Blanket pattern provides instructions for two sizes: baby afghan and child afghan. The baby afghan is made with baby sport weight yarn and a 3.50 mm (E) crochet hook. The finished size is approximately 38 inches by 29.5 inches. The child afghan is made with worsted weight yarn and a 4 mm (G) crochet hook. The finished size is approximately 47.5 inches by 37 inches.

The pattern includes written instructions for both sizes, as well as charts for those who prefer working from visual representations. It's important to note that the patterns are written in US crochet terms.

Conclusion

The Adorable Crochet Bunny Blanket is a charming project that can be easily crocheted using single crochet and double crochet stitches. The pattern introduces the mosaic dropped double crochet technique and the single crochet bobble stitch to add texture and visual interest to the blanket. With the provided instructions and materials, crocheters of all skill levels can create this beautiful bunny blanket.
