A real favorite for the office pot lucks. I tweaked a little by using 2/3 green pepper and 1/3 red pepper, and I added 3 oz. of real bacon pieces. Also used Kings Hawaiian buns as an alternative. Rather than cook on high, I browned the meat, mixed it with all other ingredients in the crockpot and cooked it on low overnight (10 hours). It seems to add to the overall flavor that way. I do a triple batch in my large crockpot and I have yet to have any leftovers to take home!

Grandchildren loved this. Definitely took more than 15 min. prep time - more like 30, but it was worth it. We used leftover to top a baked potato, umm.

Cooked this recipe for the first time and was impressed with the flavor!! Was not sure about putting sausage in the mix, but it was actually very good. We are going to use the leftovers to use as a chili sauce for our chili dogs tomorrow; it tastes like it would be good as a chili sauce. Very easy, very tasty, my two boys and husband really liked it. We will definitely make this sloppy joe recipe again! We used fresh potato hamburger buns instead of toasted kaiser rolls and they tasted great with this recipe as well; our family would definitely recommend this recipe:):)

Easy and flavorful. I only used beef, not pork. Will definitely use this recipe again!

I haven't even tasted it yet, so if its mind blowingly good I'll update my stars, but cooking this at 4 hours on high completely burned 1/3 of the recipe. I'm talking black, hard, stuck to the crock pot charred. I use my crock pot at least once a week, and it's a very good one. I've never had a recipe burn. I would recommend cooking it on low, or being around so you can stir it every hour. Definitely not your standard fix-it-and-forget-it recipe. :(

Holy cow this was good! First time trying this recipe and we WILL be back. I agree with others that this would be super for a potluck. Even though the edges burnt b/c we had this in our extra large and shallow slow-cooker, we ate every bite. Not the healthiest option, but it was really tasty with plain, ridged potato chips on the side and a toasted bun. We will make extra next time to prevent burning and just freeze the rest. YUM.

LOVE THIS!!!! Making it again this weekend. Will be one that I use for potluck as well. Good with or without the coleslaw on top. Had to use red wine vinegar instead (didn't have cider) which worked out just as well, the red wine flavor mixed with the worsh sauce which i used a bit less than the spoonful called for.

Not a traditonal fan of sloppy joes, but this was just fanstastic recipe and will make this meal a regular. Made cole slaw from recipe reviewer below recommended and that made an already good sandwich even better. We did sub red pepper instead of green - next time will try adding shredded carrots for more veggies Make this recipe, you won't be disappointed!

Terrific flavor! Did not use slow cooker as I was in a hurry so no water added. Everyone liked this! I'll make it again and certainly for company!

Tasty, I made the stovetop version using ground turkey and it turned out fine. It made quite a lot! I thought it was missing something flavor-wise, but my husband loved it. It was a really easy recipe to make.

These were very good and easy to make. I did as other reviewers recommended and cut down on the chili powder, my kids don't like it. Next time I will sub out some or all of the pork sausage, it made them taste great but I can't imagine the calories and saturated fat.

AMAZING!!! I added a small chopped zucchini from my garden and it was delicious. A definite family favorite. Wonderful flavor and a million times better than the Manwich sauce you buy in the stores!

I did the stovetop version of this. Didn't use as much chili powder as the recipe called for. A little bit was just enough to spread its flavor throughout the mix. Very moist.

I made these for my daughter's birthday party and they were a hit! At first when I mixed it all together I was a little nervous, but once it all cooked and simmered for hours it smelled and tasted AMAZING! I opted to use a red bell pepper instead of a green. Will definitely make this recipe again.

One word: FANTASTIC! We actually made these on a camping trip and they were a HUGE hit! Everyone really raved about them and they disappeared quickly. Not only will I never make any other kind of sloppy joe but this one... I am keeping it a complete secret so that I can take total credit for just how awesome they are. Really, really, really good! Thank you!

I will NEVER buy canned sloppy joe mix again. This was really good. The next time I make it I will not use as much brown sugar and I will add more chili powder. Other than that, it was really good!!

We loved this recipe! I've tried a lot of various sloppy joe recipes and this is the best by far. I like that the brown sugar gives it a sweeter flavor, makes it easy to hide extra veggies in the mix for the kids.

Yum! This was so much better than I expected. The meat was incredibly tender. It also froze and reheated really well. I made this with the coleslaw recipe from the Buttermilk Oven-Fried Chicken with Coleslaw on this site (the best coleslaw I've tasted . . . so light and fresh!). It tasted great on top of the sandwiches.

So easy and so delicious! I'm not a fan of green peppers so I substitute in a red pepper and it still tastes great. Sometimes assemble everything the night before, pop it in the fridge, and it is ready to be put in the slow cooker the next day.

These are by far the best sloppy joes ever! My son tells me that I'm the "best cooker ever" when I make these. I actually use 2 lbs ground beef instead of 1.5, and I increase only the chili powder to make it little zippier with the extra beef. This is my go-to recipe for practice nights when time is scarce, with plenty of leftovers for another meal.

This meal was great! We made it ahead of time - then combined everything in the crockpot the next day. We added a little chili pepper to add some spice - it was delicious!

This was an easy recipe to follow yielding so many helpings that we had leftovers!! I will be cooking again! One thing that I might do differently next time is use less brown sugar. It did come out sweet but not to a fault. I also used the splenda variation of brown sugar and splenda seems a bit on the sweet side so if you do use this type of sugar you may want to reduce the amount. It was great! A bit of shredded cheese on the top as an open sandwich. Thanks for a great recipe!

This is a wonderful homemade sloppy joe recipe for an everyday meal or pot luck. The added bonus is that it cooks in the slow cooker. I appreciate that it isn't packed with preservatives and doesn't come out of a can. Made this recently for a church pot luck where it was well received. I follow the recipe as written and like to put this all together the night before I intend to use it, then I refrigerate it (in the crock) until the next morning, when I just pop the crock into the cooker and let it cook for three or four hours on low. The flavors have a chance to marry nicely this way. My family loves it!
